How to Properly Install a Digital Swing Fountain | Digital Nozzle Setup & Calibration Guide
- 2025-11-03
Digital swing fountain, A digital nozzle, also referred to as a robotic nozzle, is a mechanism equipped with one or more digital motors. It is among the most advanced fountain equipment available and is particularly well-suited for music synchronization. However, its installation process can be complex and critical. Incorrect installation may result in digital motors failing to move or operating in an uncoordinated manner.
1. Motor Connection
Understanding the Two Coils
Digital motors consist of two sets of coils. These coils work together to generate push or pull forces, enabling motor rotation.
A typical digital motor has four wires. You can use a multimeter’s continuity test to identify which wires belong to the same coil. These are usually labeled as A+, A–, B+, and B–.
If the motor rotates in the wrong direction, try swapping the connections of one coil—for example, exchange A+ and A–.
Adjusting Rotating Speed and Force
The rotation speed and force of a digital motor are controlled by pulse signals and depend on three factors:
- a. Motor power
- b. Micro-step setting
- c. Gear ratio
While motor power and gear ratio are fixed, the micro-step setting can be adjusted on-site to optimize performance.
For most music fountain applications, a micro-step setting of 1/8 or 1/16 is recommended. These values provide smooth movement and minimize operational noise.
2. Calibration Sensor
A calibration sensor is essential for defining the motor’s starting position.
For music fountains, it is crucial that this sensor is robust and rated IP68 for waterproof protection.
Here are two useful tips for on-site diagnosis:
- a. The digital swing mechanism will not operate if calibration is unsuccessful.
- b. Incorrect or swapped sensor connections may lead to failed calibration and various operational issues.
